I actually have a bunch of kin, in Missouri. When I was 17, I ran away from home. I had it in my mind that I was going to be a bluesman. Destination: New Orleans, Louisiana. I made it as far as Granite City, MO, where my Great Aunt and Uncle took me in ... and promptly called the police.
This is the photo from our Reverb Nation site. One of the first she ever gave to me. It's altered from the original; I like to do photo art, and she was always pleased whenever I'd send one back with a bit of faery dust. It's evolved a bit since the first, but this was taken at an interim stage of her initial chemotherapy treatments.
This is a song she sent to me, back then. She had it in her mind that I was going to sing to her. And, I did. Quite often, over the phone. I was a bit out of practice and had nothing extraordinary in the way of recording gear ... but she liked it anyway.
I might change the lyrics a bit, but there is a duet in the works.
