Splotches of what

could have been

He held in his hand 
the tool to create,
the one chance for 
the entire world
to know peace,
the one opportunity 
to end war and hunger
the solution to all
of mens woes 
squeezed ever so
tight in his fist
Still his hand shook
and jerked as though 
he was unaware
of the consequences
of his actions at
that present moment.

His eyes were shut
and his mouth open
gasping with the strain
of such a burden
and his body tremored
several times as he 
handled this most
valuable tool........

Suddenly a smile
crossed his face
as if enlightenment
had blessed him
and he lurched
upward rapidly as
with a huge groan
and a loud splat
he ejaculated the
very solution that 
would have saved
all of mankind 
out onto the
grimy tile wall
of a Wal-mart restroom !!
 
Of course,
the lady who should 
have received
this vital shot was
away on vacation,
and his workbreak
was just long enough
to include one of his
most favorite pastimes.


Back in the lunchroom
he pored over
some grim headlines
in the local news
about the horrendous
conditions of the world
while what he so joyously 
had released prematurely
ran like tears down
the walls of  
the bathroom stall.
