MY PRECIOUS LEGACY !

It's such a perfect summer day

as my fingers lead the way,

between the frets of songs unplayed,

across the bridge of my guitar,

where I've traveled near and far,

back to memories I have made,

It's my reminiscing tool

for every heartstring I've had pulled

by every girl I've ever known,

it's my catalog of dreams

bound up tightly with six strings

for when I'm left alone.

Though I may never be a star

I am content with each string bent

and all the talent I've been lent,

from the grace of God above

who gave me all I'm dreaming of

in joyous moments spent.

All around me butterflies

dance across the Summer skys

and birds chirp harmonies

as I sit here and I wrtie

basking in the sheer delight

beneath some shady trees.

Life has been a dusty road

where I've carried thirsty loads

of dreams left unfulfilled,

others reached that pinnacle

shedding all that's cynical

because they were more skilled

far more skilled......

but my muse is here with me

bringing songs that need set free

to ease the misery

of all my failure left behind

bringing hopes that I will find

that perfect melody.......

Suddenly the sun above

is joined by my son who I love,

with his guitar in hand,

and he joins me in a chair

bringing guitar chords we can share

and so we sit and jam,

Like any trade that fathers know,

I taught him music long ago

and maybe someday he will be

a star who plays my melodies,

my precious legacy.
