- About Me
- Growing up on New York’s Lower East Side and coming from an artistic family, Wolfe Glass was exposed to a wide variety of music from an early age. By the time he turned 13, he was studying piano and electric guitar and writing his own songs. His taste in music had evolved from Rock and Punk to include a wider range including Reggae and African. After high school Wolfe traveled to West Africa and Latin America which had a profound influence on his own music .He played guitar for Reggae and African bands as well , then started his own reggae band , writing and performing his own songs, but by the end of the 90’s began to explore world music. Since then, Wolfe has explored almost every style of popular music ,most recently influenced by folk, blues and classic rhythm and blues. He has now come full circle; returning to the blues based music he grew up on. Wolfe’s first album, Days of Innocence, was recorded in Brazil where he lived for three years. Following this he recorded Southern Skies in New York and Brazil.He is now preparing to release his 3rd cd,Life Lesson,expected in 2020. Most recently Wolfe has added Brazilian music into his repertoire .In 2019 he wrote some 12 String guitar music for a Netflix film called Birders. Wolfe specializes in acoustic guitar.12 string guitar,lap steel and also plays the Cuban Tres. He sings and writes in English,Portuguese,French and some West African dialects.
Wolfe divides his year writing and playing music in New York,Canada,West Africa and Brazil.
Wolfe has had the honor to share the stage with great and varied artists : Steve Earle, Keb’ Mo’, Patti Smith, Suzanne Vega, Laurie Anderson,Ben Harper,Angelique Kidjo, and Eddie Bobe. He has also had the pleasure to perform with well known bands such as Vampire Weekend and The National, all of which has deepened and enriched his own composition and performance.
