Welcome, T.CO

Profile Information

About Me
The Casual One better known as “T.CO” made his professional music debut in late 2004, however his introduction to music dates back to his childhood years. He wrote his first song “Never Quit” at the age of 7. T.CO always references the irony of the title and feels that it is both descriptive of and speaks volumes to the journey of his career. It has been his “Never Quit” attitude coupled with determination and perseverance that has him focused on the path to becoming one of today's most highly anticipated artist.
T.CO fell in love with music in his native home Guyana. He almost innately took a liking to Reggae and Calypso. Later on in his life, he would be exposed to the sounds of Neo-Soul, Pop, R&B and Hip Hop. His influences vary from artist such as the late Michael Jackson to Tupac Shakur, Biggie Smalls and Stevie Wonder to name a few. T.CO says, “I want to be like the greats because not only do they have great musical talent but they know how to use their genius artistic abilities to connect with the people and music is my outlet to connect with the people”. T.CO would inevitably find himself mimicking the artistry of the greats before him, humming and harmonizing along with them whenever he heard their songs being played. As irony would have it, it was through mimicking that T.CO would discover the originality of his own musical voice, however the thought of pursuing a music career was merely a farfetched thought at the time.
T.CO owes the honing of his musical skills to his experiences in what he describes as Hip Hop Culture. T.CO says “As many artist of my generation, I started out as a rap lyricist in Guyana with a young rap group called Drop Squad. Hearing our music on the radio stations back home and getting my first taste of popularity from my family and peers made me crave the feeling and ignited the undying fire that is within me which yearns to pursue music as a lifelong career.”
Due to family migration to the United States, T.CO and Drop Squad parted ways. He describes the separation of the group as a painful but valuable lesson in “artistic reinvention”. He states “I wanted to be great and I felt like part of becoming great would be overcoming the challenge of finding self relevance and validation as an artist without the group Drop Squad”. T.CO began to broaden his musical taste and began listening to other genres of music such as; Heavy Metal, Punk Rock and even East Indian tribal sounds just to name a few. These different blends added on a diversity trait to the once strictly Hip Hop oriented Drop Squad lyricist. The blends would guide him in the direction of singing, ultimately allowing him to create his own eclectic sound and style.
Prior to what is now a solo singing career, T.CO was also a member of a male trio "Trisuhen" (Try Something). The group independently recorded one album in 2008 that sold about 10,000 units. Shortly after, the group went their separate ways. As a solo artist T.CO has opened up for mainstream industry acts such as Lil Wayne & Chrisette Michele. His music can be heard being played in heavy rotation by many New York City Dj’s.
T.CO is diligently working to complete his latest project. The album is titled “Bass Horns & Harmonies” and he promises that it will definitely capture the ears of listeners who appreciate real artistry and artistic quality. It fuses Jazz with, modern day Hip-hop, Classic R&B with a hint of Rock. This compilation of tracks is definitive of T.CO’s style and will be appealing to the masses. He describes it as the amplified follow up to his debut album (The Casual one), which was released in May 2013. “Bass Horns & Harmonies” definitely turns it up a few notches on the decibel level and is his best work to date. It distinguishes T.CO from his peers in today’s heavily saturated Hip Hop and R&B markets. Rather than fit in, T.CO distinctly stands out. Like all of his work, Bass Horns & Harmonies is closer to amazing and far from simplistic and basic. Pop it in, press play and let the music take you away.
