New Lang Syne II

I like the New Year

It’s like a fresh beer,

it’s a whisper of hope

as the old year just disappears

I like the baby in a diaper

who replaces that old man

whose retiring cause he’s

put up with all that he can

I like my party blower and my hat

Just going crazy I get down with that

my girl who promises she won’t get fat

on next years food,.

every new year is an interlude.

I miss the sounds

of Guy Lombardo

whose big band

music was a marvel

 I miss  the countdown

with Dick Clark

Seacrest can never

beat that patriarch

of all those new years

that I knew.

And I miss my

friends and family

no longer here with me

beneath the confetti

their absence makes me blue…..

But old acquaintances

won’t be forgot

and never brought to mind…

they're with me all the time

I like my first date with Jan.

though she is colder than ice,

she has a whole lot of friends

who will be twice as nice.

like April May and June

who simply make my heart swoon

just knowing that in four months

they’ll be coming round soon!

I like sipping champagne

and drowning last years pain,

and though the new years

holds a hangover!

I can’t refrain…

and I like kissing my girl

when it’s Twelve o'clock

she’s got a tongue like a demon

and she’s so damned hot.

So raise a toast with me

too what has yet to be

we’ve got a whole year

to uncover it

with all it’s glee

and please be here next year

when we all kiss it goodbye

In a party hat and blower

Please don’t wear a tie.

as the old year flies on by,

and we all get

incredibly High…….
