Is Heaven A State Of Being.??
The fly only four days old
quite starving
and tired of his new form
sought return to the nest
of a maggot.
So he flew into a dumpster
and settled into a bean can
that held only
a tiny smidgen
of edible delight
and there he partook of it
and rubbed his wings
together with great pleasure.
But then suddenly
a large cardboard box
was tossed on top of the
opening to his canned feast,
entombing him within
it's dank tin walls,
where he settled
disgruntedly
with no options for
any type of escape.
It was a brisk Spring day
that turned very cold
at dusk, and soon snow fell
and the air turned bitter,
and the can became a freezer
of sorts as several days
passed with wintry blasts,
prevailing throughout the town.
The tiny fly was frozen
in the bottom of his trap
where his remains remained.
On the third day of his
cyrogenic sleep a truck
issuing many loud clangs
and beeps hooked
up the huge dumpster
and emptied it's contents
into it's vast belly.
The fly never even moved,
the can was pressed between
boxes and stayed sealed.
At the landfill the truck
vomited the human waste
onto a huge pile
of other debris,
and the tiny can
tumbled a bit,
dislodging the fly,
onto the top
of a porcelian
coldspot refridgerator,
where he lay in state.
But that day the sun
paid a welcome call to all
warming the earth, and the
junkyard of trash to 88 degrees.
for over nine hours.
Thus the tiny fly thawed
from his frosted state,
and to his amazement found
that he was surrounded,
with a smorgasbord of
every known delectable treat,
that any sensible fly could
ever hope to eat in
10,000 human lifetimes.
Assuming he had died
and gone to heaven,
he spent hours gulping
down bits of his Nirvana
and washing each meal
down with puddles of
melted snow water
T hen much later
while ingesting
a ripe banana peel
on a dirt path between
the piles of refuse
another truck
happened to rumbled by
dislodging a large concrete
brick which landed smack dab
on the back of the tiny fly
sending him to the oblivion
of nothingness that all
insects never get to know.
