Fame's Tedious Climbs

 I've fallen far too many times

but I always get up again

and I just turn to plug those holes

and canyons fate flings before me

that I stumble in

I'm using all the stumbling

blocks of failure that

made my chances weak,

I'm gonna build my own damn mountain,

then climb up to its peak,

high above my endless struggling

"The whole world will hear me sing!".

Cause there's nothing

horizontal about success

unless it's in your dreams

it's all vertical from the bottom up

in a climb that's quite extreme,

so many talented folks just plummet

before they even reach the summit,

the paths to happiness are littered with

what's left of all of those

who fell with anguished screams.

And If I fall again on my final try,

tumbling back to my humble world

Just dig a hole and bury me,

in that place where I was hurled,

then raise a marker over me

with a few words that will say::

"Here lies a music man,

his guitar in his hands,

who never quit.........

cause he was born to play." .
