F l o a t i n g on a rainbow membrane in a bubble freshly blown.
bees hum,
children squeal
kittens run
tires whir,
trees sway,
to the winds
softest whistle
each twig
sashays.
puddles
plink-plunk,
sneakers squeak
babies coo,
old men creak
rain goes rat-a-tat-tat
umbrellas whoosh
cats howl, cars growl,
wet socks go squoosh.
the sun beats down,
while thunder rumbles
a rainbow bends colors
in gasps of delight
nature speaks,
in a jumble
of it's most
wondrous sights
as I stand humbled
silent in great awe
of this concert around me
upon which I've stumbled
a balloon escapes..........
from a tots
sticky fingers
like Spring
it is here
but a short time
it lingers
it's a bright
bag of essence
that's blown
into some colors,
that over the whole land
so gracefully hovers
after being tossed up
gaily into the air
till it pops sprinkling rubber
confetti everywhere
Spring uncoils
in lazy lengths of green
polka dotted with dandelions
across backyards serene
where birds land on a clothesline
to drip dry from the rains
chirping whatever silly
song comes to their brains
cow tipping should only be
twenty percent
the rest should be stiffed
off to butchers all sent
to be cut and grilled slowly
they just add black and white
to this beauty so holy
and I need a bite
I have a strong sudden taste
for some medium rare,
soft pink on the inside
crisp and brown
except there
with horizontal stripes
branded deep
charcoaled flared.
It's a silly
kind of moment,
as Spring break
cracks me up
while nonsensical rantings
from my head interrupt
like the rainfall that came
and then ended abrupt
even poets fall prey
to enchantment that plays
in the warm breezes lilt
across such sunny days
that are prematurely granted
to all who are housebound
but venture outside
when the rains settle down.
It is here
I dance nimbly
tiptoe
ever so lightly
through these
puddles refractions
with their splish-splash
attractions
bygone days are
reflected with
each bare foot extracted
I'm floating
in a rainbow membrane
of a bubble freshly blown
sailing high above
the snows
long since melted far below
as I bask in the sun's glow
that I've grown to know
living life in the present
that I got long ago.
