She was my teller

and I wanted to Tell her

she was as pretty

as a gal can be

She even handled my money

like we were married

counting it out so carefully.

With long auburn hair

and eyes of blue,

I did a lot more banking

then I usually do

hoping she would see

that I was hoping

she was into me…..

I didn’t carry much money

it went to my new honey

every chance I could

I dressed to impress

always wearing my best

and just hoping she would,

take more interest in me

them my bank ever gave.

I longed to ask her out

but it just wasn’t the place

with cameras all around

and her managers face

jealous of what I craved.

So I sent her a note

through the drive up tube,

hoping that would be a way

to let my feelings  intrude

with a couple of tickets

to the town’s hottest show,

and my note held all the things

I wanted her to know….

It said…..I’d like to open up

a joint account

with your heart,

sharing a bond of love

that guarantees

we never will part

we can watch it

growing annually

if you’ll just invest

in a night to see if I can

offer you interest,

But if your truly indebted

to someone else’s share,

I understand completely

but I had to declare,

all my interest in you

cause to me you’re a beautiful soul,

and my need to ask you out

has gotten out of control.

The very next day when I went

banking at the ATM

I just put cash in the tube

and pushed the button to send

but when she saw it was me

her lovely smile gave me comfort

and when I got back my deposit slip

she added her number……

Now she’s spending all her time

when she’s off, with a feller,

who gives thanks to that bank

that loaned me my favorite teller

we’ve opened up a joint account

and someday she’ll be carried

over the threshold of

our mortgaged house

cause we’re getting married

cause we’re getting married………
