ARTISTS....may sure to copyright your music and register your buiness and stage name! I know you hear that all the time. There are other artists, producers, djs and promoters in this business who will not hesitate to steal your music, business name or stage name. I've heard this millions of times and watched it happened to others. I didn't think anyone would do it to me but someone DID! My niece had a brilliant idea so we came up with a catchy business name. She posted a comment on facebook and was contacted by a promoter. The promoter was in his late 30's/early 40's and he was trying to reinvent himself. He was working with a DJ and a former promoter/ new club owner. They had asked people to vote on three business names from their new business. They were completely different than we business name. When he announced their new business we were shocked. They steal our name. She decided to contact the DJ himself to work this situation out. The DJ told her that "this is how the game is played" and then made a very negative comment towards women. I called the DJ and he stated that he liked the name and was going to use it. He bragged that he copied his DJ name from a well known rapper and got away with it. Eventually he stopped using it. The moral of this story...COPYWRITE and REGISTER your WORK!
