People get into music for all sorts of reasons, the pursuit of fame and fortune being one of the most common. Lady Elizabeth Townsend, however, is inspired by a higher calling. Her desire when she shares her music with listeners is that they will be better equipped to live the life that God intended them to live. She will have fulfilled her mission as an artist if she is able to make you see the good in life. Her efforts were recognized two days ago with an Akademia Award in the Best Christian/Americana Song category. For a singer who only launched herself into the industry in 2007, this is a huge leap.

She may have recommitted herself to music eight years ago, but Lady Elizabeth has been singing practically all her life. Like many of today’s top entertainers, the Seattle native discovered her talent while singing in church. As she matured, so did her abilities, not just as a singer, but as a songwriter. Tragedy struck 12 years into her professional career when she lost her voice to a thyroid disease. Forced to hang up the mic, Townsend decided to focus on writing. Her heart for reaching out to others led her to spend her time caring for the elderly.

Happily, Lady’s voice did return, enabling her to get back up on stage and behind the booth. Perhaps this episode with adversity is what gives ‘I Find No Fault In My King Jesus’ such power. Produced by Mike Walters, it is an uplifting ditty that she says is the first the Lord gave her. “…now I know without a doubt why the Lord gave me this song and why He had me wait for years to release it. It was to bring hope and healing to many who are hurting and suffering in our world,” Lady says.
