About Me: lets see i grew up in the town of Kasilof Alaska, on the beach at the mouth of the Kasilof river the volcano Mt. Redoubt was the view from my back porch.
my mom who has the voice of an angel and can play damn near any instrument led worship at our church most of my life (kasilof community church) my father who is pure rock n roll taught me how to play guitar starting at age eleven when my christmas present was a hundred dollar applause acoustic he's responsible for introducing me to the greatest music through all generations ,earth wind and fire, neil young, mark heard ,jimi hendrix, stevie ray vaughan , the list is ….well HUGE….. after years of luie luie and 1 4 5 progressions he started to takes me to a jam session once a week with a fellow named doug mcauliffe who was damn near a carbon copy of eric clapton …thats where my guitar licks really began to blossom and i was the understudy of the blues….. i used to play talent shows in high school with a three piece band jenny toliver on the bass (SHE WAS FUCKING AMAZING) ryan philips on the drums… about the funkiest white boy on the drums that you could find in alaska… after winning every category every year my soon to be brother paul hays approached me senior year and magic happened his guitar skills were as good if not better than mine and we fell into perfect harmonies and started writing music together right away ….we played around our town as peel (paul and neil) and not barley a year after graduation ew were packed up with drummer ryan phillips and moved out to austin…. hahaha and fucking terrified ….that small tame city scared the shit out of us having never been on a freeway or used a transit system …but with in months we already had a little name for ourselves the band we called both feet…..but everyone knew us as this crazy alaskan boys …. the city kids had no idea what to do with us but we made and continue some of the best friendships with our deer park family …..there were many changes in the band over the next ten years terry foster sat in on drums with us for our very first album and played with us for years after ryan left …. paul and i played a two piece black keys style show with me singing and playing drums while paul was upfront with guitar and vocals…we did that for almost two years …and then stumbled on to the dream team sonny plummer on drums paul prestige on bass and todd wilson on keys leaving paul and i to capture perfect harmonies and trade lead guitar once again at the front of the band ….this perfection lasted for 3 or 4 of my most favorite years gigging to this day we have played hundreds of shows together some where only the girlfriends were there and others where we had a sea of people dancing there asses off the the grove by the crazy alaskans and there new found super band….. alas time requires so many to grow up and occasionally grow apart ….though i consider everyone in the band more than family i moved to portland to try a different angle with my music ….and once again EXCITMENT !!! i have already tied in with a phenomenal band know as the Smokin Section. and am doing solo work all over portland
