Destined for success, Chicago native Kory "Kayo Cash" Norris Jr. was born February 27, 1993 in Minneapolis to his mother Gina Jackson and father Kory Sr. The family packed all of their belongings and headed for Chicago.
At Age 7, Cash was just getting serious about the rap game. He and his brother created songs from an instrumental that their step-father had given them.
With those songs, they performed in front of their family members and visitors of their households. This is where Cash first got his steam to make it big in the music industry.
In September of 2003, he transferred into Ariel Community Academy. Well established Chicago-based rapper Ashanti "Ra" Collier selected him, Taylor "Metro" Major, and Justin "Crazie Boy" Reynolds to be the front men of a group named "Minority Report" based off a film that came out later that year...
During the creation of this group, they hosted several freestyle sessions at the cafeteria for fun and publicity. For a couple of months, the entire group attended the sessions to sharpen up their skills and to scout for more members. There, they found Walter "Walt-B" Brown, Corey "C-Lo" Cryer, and Blair "Bleezy" Anderson.
When their whole group was assembled, they came up with their first song "Ridin'" which was supposed to be their 1st single on their album. Not only did they have one successful song, they had about 7 songs that they wrote for projects their teachers wanted them to do. Songs like "Bungalow Chicago, Radio, and Caves & Sinkholes" just to name a few.
Although they were well on their way to stardom, they never recorded a single one of their songs. Because of the mutiny and controversy in the group, they broke up in 2004.
In October of 2005, Cash's long-time community based organization, Chicago Youth Programs (C.Y.P.), opened up free studio sessions. At the studio, the teens that came to the program formed a group called the "Urban Underground". There were originally 4 members. Those members consisted of Cash, his brother; Trinier "Trey" Jackson, Lewis "Madd Skillz" Patterson, and Darnell "Yung Dub" Harris.
Sometime around 2006, they added 2 new members to the group. They were brothers, Corey "C-Note" Williams and Curtis "C-Breeze" Williams.
On July 27, 2007, they released their first full-length album entitled "Seeds of a Dream." The idea was originally supposed to add publicity to the Urban Underground... That, it has.
With a couple of performances under their belt, even having 1 at the prestigious Westin Hotel in downtown Chicago, they have gained a significant amount of publicity. The what seemed like 'inseparable' group, broke up in March 2008. Reason being C-Breeze and Madd Skillz left to go to college. Trey was a senior and was strongly focused on football. C-Note and Yung Dub rarely ever came. So all that was left was him.
As for the young superstar, he is currently working on a wide array of Media ventures. Projects such as hosting parties, promoting major events, and even recording new music!
