R.I.P., SCOTT TUCHBAND (1952 - 2024)
In 1976, I, Elliott Michaels, sang and played organ in a Brooklyn band known as FIREFLY. After months of speculation, it has become apparent to me that Firefly founder and my friend and musical collaborator SCOTT TUCHBAND has finally died, succumbing to a number of illnesses. Mr. Tuchband co-wrote most of the original songs we played in Firefly, usually in collaboration with his friend and neighbor Joseph Bolnick, now living in Virginia. Scott went on to play in a number of other bands and musical groups such as Kashmir, Nexus, Garbage, the Triboros, the Beacon Court Band, and most recently the oldies cover band the UpBeats. In 1981 he also played behind me in a short-lived band project known as REALITY.
