Life of an Indie Artist out of St. Louis: Last night was interesting. And of course I had a blast. Last night I performed at the In Spot in St. Louis on Delmar. I have performed there before and blogged about it before. It is a really chill spot. Tonight, they held the open mic competition. How it works is two out of 5 people , one picked by the judge and one picked by the audience, will advance to next level of competition and so on. I believe there will be four shows and two people will be picked from each show. The winner is to receive a paid slot to perform at the In Spot. So yes I entered the competition for a second time. So last night was interesting because I flopped on the very first song that I sang. The song was a flop for a few reasons. The song that I sang was K. Michelle Very Special. This song is getting on my nerve lol. I sing it wonderfully acapella but for some reason when music is added it just does not go as planned. I love that song because it is so fun and energetic. I think I will have to find some way to arrange it to fit my voice and style. I was disappointed in my delivery for that song so the performance will not be televised lol. All I know is I will not let up until I have conquered that song with music. Thank goodness that we were able to sing two songs. One thing that I try to remember when performing is that most people that are watching you will probably never think about you again unless you spark some interest. I redeemed myself with my original song "Day's Like This". I will post that performance later. Everyone did an awesome job last night. The judges last night were Jay Wash and Tiffany Elle. Tiffany Elle was also the feature. She has a beautiful voice and she did an amazing job! The judges choice was my guy Vinnis SaxMan Bryant III! He killed "Drunk In Love" on the Saxophone. Great job. Had the room feeling his flow. So this is another interesting part of the night. The 3 remaining contestants , myself included, were called up to the stage and it was up to the audience to decided. Myself and another contestant name Angie G actually tied. So we had to have a 60 second sing off. We both brought our A game and the Ms. Angie G won. Which rightfully so, she did her thing last night! Congrats to the winners. Thank you again Andrew TonyDrew Bethany and Lordell Rush II and Cheryce Rycē Ward for having me! You guys are an amazing band and it is always a pleasure. To my girls Shontay R. Ford and Michéle Michéle thank you for being a rider with your girl and for always keeping it one hundred and asking the tuff questions! LeMoore Ward Snapback it is always a pleasure to see you and to hear that beautiful voice! Now my voice is gone. I have been singing all month and now I sound like Weezy Jefferson when I talk lol.
