- About Me
- Candy Gal (AKA) Hawa Hunt, was born in Makeni, Sierra Leone. I grew up in the midst of civil war moving between the capital (Freetown) and the countryside. Living in Sierra Leone in these years was disturbing but also gave us an appreciation for life, beauty, and perseverance. My past and passion for the progress of my country inspire my music. Today I live in Santiago, Chile and have travelled the world including living with my family in Canada and the Emirates.
I am a singer, song writer, dancer, model, fitness trainer and song writer I am proud of my music and dancing which combines contemporary and traditional styles. I want the whole world to experience the splendor of African culture.
I am a caring and sharing woman. I endeavor to be an example to the youth of Sierra Leone, in particular the women and youth who are still so vulnerable. In continuing support to them and in thanks to those who helped me persevere, I have a foundation called the Candy Gal Caring and Sharing event which takes place every six months in Freetown, Sierra Leone. This is one way I have being contributing to my country of origin.
I am a proud mother of three lovely children. I am gathering momentum and will propel myself to expand my horizons and entertain. Around a campfire or around the world, I believe that music is a way to bring people together. When adversity turns us silent, music fills the void with hope.
