About Me
Her songs are personal yet universal (with a hint of women songwriters from the past) while her vocal sound is unmistakably distinct.

Ellen’s connection with music goes back to childhood. She grew up studying classical piano and started singing at the age of 16. When deciding to forego a classical career Ellen then fell into the “family business.” Her father Sid Woloshin — a Madison Avenue jingles man who wrote one of the most powerful ad tunes of all times, McDonald’s “You Deserve a Break Today” — gave her the chance to use her vocal talents by becoming one of the voices of McDonald’s while still in college. From there, she sang and wrote jingles for the likes of advertisers from Crystal Light, Trump Casino, Pearle Vision and others creating a strong professional foundation before embarking on the path of singer/songwriter. She began her performing career with her interpretation of numerous standards and classic songs which to this day she seamlessly combines with songs of her own.

Ellen has since recorded two albums and shared the stage with artists like Laura Nyro, Jim Dawson and Bill Staines among others. Ellen has also recorded some stunning renditions of several well-known songs -- most notably her version of “While My Guitar Gently Weeps” which is on her first CD “Tried & True” and received airplay on the BBC. She released a video to accompany the track which conveys a unique take on this poignant George Harrison classic. Her broad range of live and recording experience in addition to her early work on jingles truly demonstrates her versatility as an artist. She has played countless gigs in a variety of venues from colleges to coffee houses, art centers and clubs as well as a performance at the legendary Bluebird Cafe in Nashville. As a songwriter, Ellen has written for artists like Dionne Warwick, Ben Vereen and LaToya Jackson.

Several years back Ellen was invited to be a contributor to Music Connection Magazine, one of the premier music publications, where she has been reviewing live shows, CD's, writing articles and interviewing other artists.

R.I.P., SCOTT TUCHBAND (1952 - 2024)

In 1976, I, Elliott Michaels, sang and played organ in a Brooklyn band known as FIREFLY. After months of speculation, it has become apparent to me that Firefly founder and my friend and musical collaborator SCOTT TUCHBAND has finally died, succumbing to a number of illnesses. Mr. Tuchband co-wrote most of the original songs we played in Firefly, in collaboration with his friend and neighbor Joseph Bolnick. Scott went on to play in a number of other bands and musical groups such as Kashmir,…See More
