- About Me
- I'm writing this for Brian because I am also a " Multi - Award winning Pro" but in Journalism. I have covered the music scene for 35 years with the leading industry publications and was managing editor of "Rolling Stone" Music magazine for 12 years. I'm writing mostly because Brian Zukryan gives a lot to any writer, to write about. Also, I am familiar with his work in the "BIZ" for many years. We start with Brian at age Three. Having a special need to play the drums, Brian did just that and was reading and playing proficiently by age Five. This is where he changes paths a bit finding another passion, the Trumpet. A good choice he made because by the ripe old age of Ten, Brian had his musicians Union card and was officially launched as a Professional. Playing gigs on the Trumpet and Drums he was also perfecting his love for the Bass guitar and a variety of keyboards. His music took him working not only in his hometown Burbank, Ca., where he was born in 1958 to mother Nancy and father George, but throughout his home and surrounding states. When he became a teenager is where I came into the picture. Covering L As leading "Hot Music Venues" I ran across Brian and his bands many a time. Every time a thrill to say the least. His bands like Holocaust, Madam X and Electra were always on top of the Hollywood scenes " Hottest Shows" list. Headlining world renowned clubs such as" Gizzaris on the Strip" ( now the "Key Club"), "The Whiskey a Go Go" ( known as 'The Whiskey"), "The Roxy" (with equally as famous "The Rainbow" next door), Doug Westons' "The Troubadour" (Every Major name in the Music "BIZZ" has graced this stage many times ) he would pack the house with me in there too. I could never give any of his bands an even close to bad write up. Always Powerful and Punch driven performances with a stage presence and presentation that would literally knock your socks off. Brian was always warm and welcoming to me and his adoring fans. While on stage he was as masterful musically and as powerful in his presence as anyone I have ever had the pleasure of seeing. The people around me ( usually packed in like sardines) were absolutely "Giddy" over Brian and his band every time. Girls would actually throw themselves on the stage for these guys! I've seen a lot of that at shows, but usually with much more famous acts. Bruce knows how to create a phenomenon known as "Hysteria" within his audiences. What amazed me was that he understood the mechanics of this at such a young age. He since has played with a "Who's Who" of Music Greats and some Music Legends such as; Leon Russel ( I'm jealous), Randy Rhodes ( Ozzy Osbourne), Martha Reeves and the Vandellas ( one of Motowns founding acts, I'm jealous again) Harry T Booker ( Warner Bros.) Ted Nealey ( Jesus in "Jesus Christ Superstar") Leif Garrett ( teen hearthrob) Tanya Tucker, The Steve Miller Band, Michael Jackson, Beyonce's band and the list goes on,,, need I say more? Well so what's he doing currently? He played me some of his songs that he writes and plays all instruments on, produces AND engineers! Come on!! They are great works crossing many genres, styles and grooves. Simply amazing still! Writing compositions for Movies, TV, and "For anyone anywhere that needs music" says Brian.
