If I could ride a guitar string
D, G. C, A or maybe E
stretched high 
beyond the galaxy....
To distant worlds, 
like eighth notes hurled 
beyond what's atmospherical
changing me from what's 
grown stagnant
into something far 
more lyrical

Or simply catch 
a huge blast from 
some massive sax 
till I am flung
by wails propelling me out of 
dimensions I have known
into the fifth where I’d be blown
away by entering a zone
Where I would see with 
jaundiced eyes,
that my craft holds 
no compromise
that music knows 
no boundaries
what encounters 
there would be
abandoning all 
that's earthly
and find unheard of
stellar notes
that grip with 
such intensity
a humble music 
man like me.

Soon I would dance 
and freely float
in a thousand
times less gravity
as my brain absorbs
what masters wrote
and turns it into 
mental totes
while my flesh 
becomes an Artonote.

My skin etched 
microscopically
with all their musicalities
my fingertips 
graced surgically
playing anything 
that’s handed me
plus blueprints 
of the most bizarre
new instruments 
that make guitars 
and keyboardsrendered 
all sub par,
stellar instruments 
that break the rules
and make ours look like
cave men’s tools

Then as an 
Artonote set loose 
and homeward bound
their new recruit
with aliens cheering 
me as I go 
to introduce what 
we don’t know,
turning all who are 
still earthy
in to 
Arto-note-worthy’s 
as the music we play 
all goes topsy-turvy

Of course for now 
it’s all just a dream
created from Rosique’s 
great song theme
But maybe someday 
when I must die
my soul will soar 
the endless skies
as an Artonote 
seeking the prize
of music that will 
end my cries
for more then
just the standard notes
used endlessly 
and then rewrote
for brand new riffs 
that hypnotize,
with sounds we have 
not cannibalized.
with harmonies that 
blend the wails 
of Jupiter’s storms 
with meteor tails
a sizzling hot new 
way to sail 
the universe
beyond the pale
as aliens dance 
beneath my flights
their planets rocked 
with sheer delight 
at a passing star 
in the distant night.
