Two more shots of Black Velvet to cushion my pain, As I suffer below those neon painted lights,painted lights,
let me chase it all
away with beers,
on this lonely night
that will never fit
on this stool right
next to apathy
where no one
cares to sit.

While some LOUD
ladies laughter,
at a table behind me,
tinkles like wind chimes,
I heard long ago
in the winds of what was
interrupting my chat
as my tongue fall dumb
on just one more of my
nightly dates spent with numb.

Barkeep draft me
some more anesthesia
to numb me in it's liquid buzz
send my dregs of despair
to Expedia,
send my soul back
to what never was.....

Five more rounds
and perhaps I'll get lucky,
when I rise up on quivering legs,
then float like an ice cube
across a hot griddle,
and snatch at my coat on its peg
on a run from my blues
as the door slams behind me.
wishing I could consume
two more kegs.

Left befuddled by keys
offering nowhere to be
impaling that keyhole
with stabs to break free
going full Helen Keller
into its chrome confusion
then dissolving in puddles
sweaty flesh mixed with drool
straight across the back seat
of my motel on wheels...
into blissful oblivion
a heartbroken fool......
