What is Transcendental Rock? Transcendence is as a bridge between worlds - between the world we know and the world of mystery. It was said of this music that it is like "diving into mystery" and rising in "total empowerment." It reflects awareness of the trance-inducing power of music - the power to transform consciousness to a dreamlike state - achieved through dynamic, but steady, driving rhythms, laced with serpentine melodies in ways that are congruent with the essential emotions they project. This music explores the darkest recesses of the human psyche, but never allows the darkness to overcome it's uplifting power. Diverse acoustic and electric guitars are applied creatively, along with powerful bass, drums & percussion, creating an undeniably worldly and transcendental sensation.
Rülf draws from professional experience in anthropology - a study that inquires into all aspects of human beings, including, but not limited to physics, biology, psychology, linguistics, archaeology and mythology - resulting in meaningful and intentional music. Songs are intentional in that they are distinct in emotion and diverse in purpose, such as inspiring ecstatic dance, dealing with grief, exploring heritage, honoring a mountain, and so on.
