"In art, the hand can never execute anything higher than the heart can imagine."-Ralph Waldo Emerson

"I would much rather have regrets about not doing what people said, than regretting not doing what my heart led me to and wondering what life had been like if I just been myself."-Brittany Renee

How many people have read the story, The Elephant in the Circus? It explains why a huge elephant is tied to a small pole and a thin rope and never attempts to escape. The elephant's mind has been conditioned to think a certain way since he was young. That story comes to mind when I see some of the excuses and some artists way of thinking, as I glance at my newsfeed. We live in the internet age and the old barriers are no longer in place. Young people spend more time online than watching television, listening to the radio and read a magazine. Some people are so conditioned to think a certain way that they don't google ways to improve their career. They don't realize that this is the best time to be an independent artist. -NEBA

I've heard a number of artists say that the internet has oversaturated the market? Is that such a bad thing? The listener gets to choose what he or she likes instead of being forced to listen to something on the radio and because a group or artist paid to be featured in a magazine. The problem is getting past the clutter. When you go to the hardware store or book store and there are hundreds of things to choose from, what do you do? You ask someone who knows! I noticed my nieces and nephews have have certain blogs and sites they believe post good music. The clutter has already been filtered for them. Do you think the market is oversatuated and do you think it is a good or bad thing?  -NEBA

For years multi billion dollar companies have controlled our perceptions by spending millions on clever marketing campaigns. Today the truth is being exposed by average people because of the internet. Look at UPS, they spend million to give the public a postive impression. They spend millions in lawyer fees. Talk to a minority. that has worked there. Google discrimination and UPS and see what comes up. Big companies have lost a lot of control and things are a lot more even for common people. The same applies with record companies, radio stations and print media. The playing field is so much more even for independent artists.    -NEBA
