- About Me
- It’s been the 15-year accumulation of writing and performance that led to my development as an artist. It has mutated my songs and created the sound I have today. I’ve played Indie, Metal, Rock and Electronic in multiple bands. Sometimes I look back and think “what the heck was I playing” yet during that time, I was excited about everything – it was a learning experience. I’ll never forget where I’ve come from and appreciate this ever-changing expedition.
My first band Aurous was nominated at the Inland Empire Music Awards for “Best Live Show” and “Best Indie CD” www.purevolume.com/aurous. Fun fact, I have my band’s logo tattooed on me. Cinder Red was my second voyage where I explored the grit and gravel in my pipes and love for shredding store.cdbaby.com/cd/cinderred. I was lucky enough to win “Ernie Ball Battle of the Bands” Los Angeles Warped Tour with Walk the Rio, my third band www.reverbnation.com/walktherio. My former group was actually a duo called Circuit Assassins where I experimented with electronic production soundcloud.com/circuitassassins/sets/circuit-assassins/.
Being in a band is more like being married to multiple people. Sometimes people go their own way. I’m fortunate to still have many talented band mates and friends I still play music with. The knowledge and experience I gained was invaluable.
This brings me to where I am today. I’ve taken my learnings as a vocalist, guitarist, bassist, pianist, engineer and producer to create my own sound. This too will grow. My first solo debut is more like a therapeutic journal from a time not long-ago. Heartache is the best stimulation for songwriting. “Apex to Abyss” tells the 4-song story of a 3-year Australian stint of struggle and triumph. I invite you to interpret it as you see fit.
All music tracks were written, performed, and mixed by me, aside from drums which were performed by the very talented Chris Beall – from my first band. Songs were tracked at Signature Sound Studios in San Diego, CA and engineered by Christian Cummings www.signaturesound.com/. Songs were mastered by the brilliant ears of Adam Schmidt – also from my first band, what are the odds.
As is legacy, my sound will continually change. While musicians do love praise, I write for myself: the songs I want to hear, the ones that calm my mind, the ones that tell a story. Whether I have an audience of 1 or 1 million, I will continue this ride until my voice give out because that’s what musicians do. Enjoy my story.
