NMc. Music consists of one person. Nichole (Nikki) McSorley. Musician, instrumental composition/arrangement, producer, sound mixing and marketing. Based out of the 'Small Town with a Big Heart", Trenton, Ohio - USA. She started making her own musical sounds at the age of 9 with the purchase of her first musical instrument, a harmonica. Music runs in the family. She was exposed at a young age to country and bluegrass. “My uncle could even play the spoons, that fascinated me when I was a kid.”
On to bigger and better things she started playing the flute in 4th grade and stuck with it through high school concert band and then symphonic orchestra. At the age of 19 she started learning how to play the guitar and she hasn’t looked back since. In late 2000 she wrote her first song. Recorded in a friends basement studio with all the old mixing boards, mics and live instruments. She got the recording bug bad! It has been a long journey with a lot of trial and error along the way. And some success.
Through family connections she has been writing mostly atmospheric and ambient type music for the audiobook industry, intro's and outro’s of audiobooks. Many of her songs have been inspired by these short musical bites. She says “I don’t conform to one genre, I don’t really fit into a musical category.” You will find a very wide range of genres in her music. Ambient, rock, folk, orchestral, world fusion and more. As she says “you’ll either like it or hate it.”
Leaving a 15 year career in the IT business in 2015, she focuses on music entirely now. With the release of her first Album “To Whom it May Concern” and several singles, she continues her journey. Recently she started focusing more on fully composed orchestral music. “A Medley Journey”, “Orchestral Autopsy”, “Experimental Orchestra” and more. “I’m not interested in performing live or becoming a superstar, I just want to write great, original music. The recording industry is vast and there are so many outlets for music nowadays. Your future is what you make it in my opinion.” Lastly she comments, “if I can’t write/compose music I don’t know what I will do. It’s so much a part of me it would be like losing a limb.”
