Growing up, I never knew my fathers side of the family. My father was somewhat in my life, but due to his mental health issues, it was hard to have a consistent relationship with him. So having the opportunity to meet sisters, cousins, aunts, uncles etc., wasn’t available at the time.
I always prayed and sought God about this, because weather a family is healthy or unhealthy, to have a idea of lineage is so important to a persons identity! For so long it felt like apart of me was missing because of this. Now that I know my identity in Christ, I felt God has taken it one step further to allow me to see my identity within my family as well.
It has been truly a blessing to be able to reconnect with my other fathers son many years ago. My older brother had been looking for me as well, because my father had died in 2007. It wouldn’t be till 2014 that we actually reconnected (I hadn’t seen him since I was 6 years old). That’s when he gave me the news about our father and that he had him buried in our family town in Liberty Texas. And he also put me in touch with my dads sister. To make a long story short, this was the result of what God did, to bring me back ‘home’ to my fathers side of the family.
To be able to come to Texas and be blessed beyond measure already has been awesome. However to be able to meet my family, and hear the history of the great men and women of who’s footsteps I follow in, has been truly overwhelming!

I want to admonish you guys to never, ever limit Gods power to heal and restore. If he could take me from sleeping on the streets, foster homes, gangs, jails and drugs, He can and will do it for you.
