Born in Little Rock Arkansas to a family full of music, music was embedded within her soul. At only 18 months, her mother caught her patting the arm of a chair in perfect rhythm to the music playing on the radio. As a small child at the age of 4, Boutz told family and friends what she wanted more than anything was to be a singer and write songs. At the young age of 12, she began doing just that. From a boarding school in Baton Rouge Louisiana, she began writing songs to express hr feelings of deep emotions. Mostly dark, painful messages would come forth during that time in her life.

Although Boutz never received any formal vocal training as a child, she was in honors choir, often performing solos during performances. She performed at many tallest competitions often winning 1st and 2nd place for her performances. She performed in plays, often acting as more than one role, both of which involved singing.

Born nearly blind, Boutz never learned to read music. Boutz says, “One day my music teacher handed me a notebook full of music written in Braille. I got so frustrated at trying to read it that I threw it in the corner of my room when I got home that summer.” Instead she understands music in colors and letters. In her mind, each note or key represents a distinct color while music in letters for example look like this. B or BM (B major,) db, (B flat,) Bm or bm, (B minor.) She says, “ My voice is my instrument. That’s all I need.”

In 2013 while recording her 2nd LP, “Blackout,” Boutz received an eye sight saving surgery and bargain exploring other avenues including makeup, photo and graphics design, and videography.

September 2011 Boutz began recording her first album “Evolution “ at House Of Melody Studio with producer Kish Moody and soon after recorded her Second album “Blackout” March 2013. As a survivor or domestic abuse, Boutz states that recording these albums aided her in the healing process and gave her inner peace.

Her acoustic album “Runaway” was recorded and released in September 2015 shortly following the debut of her smash hit Bad Company single, “If You Needed Somebody.” Boutz heavy hitting, modern rock twist on this song became a huge hit among her fans, receiving thousands of spins and 4 awards for best rock song. Summer 2016, she recorded a 6 track compilation of smash hits from Def Leppard which shortly followed her single debut of “Love Bites” May 2017. Once again making it a huge hit among her fans, it too has received several awards for best rock song, including the music video for best rock music video. It was featured on POZE tv and on an independent tv station in Las Angela’s California. Her Def Leppard EP compilation debut is set for early 2022.

September 2017, many tragic events forced Boutz to step back from her music. At the end of the storm appeared a rainbow. Late 2018 Boutz fell pregnant. Her and husband Kyle welcomed their new baby boy into their family of 3 girls June 7th 2019.

Boutz is coming back with a vengeance, recording songs with a fresh new songs even better than before.

Boutz promise of forever states, “Until the day I take my last breath, I will continue making music. One day I’ll be gone but the music never dies.”

Cheryl Boutz love for music is more than colors.
