Grammy-winning Beenie Man joins Sole Profit, Mr. Moore Music and
Tamo-J on hot new dancehall hit ‘Feeling Herself’

LOS ANGELES, CA – A new dancehall hit featuring Grammy Award-winning reggae superstar Beenie Man is lighting up the world of music.

Produced by Sole Profit and co-written by Mr. Moore Music, “Feeling Herself” is a big dance tune that blends hip-hop, dancehall, and reggaeton. The well-known Jamaican growl of Beenie Man dominates the track over the top of a catchy beat produced by Sole Profit, and a bridge that features Tamo J – a talented up-and-coming recording artist who is getting a lot of airplay in Jamaica.

According to Sole Profit, the song has been a long time in the making. It started when he was living in Atlanta, working as a producer. His business partner and frequent collaborator, Mr. Moore Music came to Sole Profit’s home studio, where he was recording with fellow musician Doug Liscomb who played a guitar riff on the record. They worked it and reworked it for the better part of a year until they felt like they’d created a hit. And within that hit, one of the lyrics mentioned Beenie Man – but they never expected anything to come of it beyond just that name drop in the beginning part of the song.

“The record had been out for awhile before we pulled it down. Cara Vickers, Tamo-J’s manager from Kingston presented it to Beenie Man. I guess he really liked it, because he recorded it pretty fast. That’s dope. He’s a legend” Sole Profit said. “It’s definitely a woman’s anthem. It’ll catch fire in the summer.”

Beenie Man has been a mainstay on the reggae and hip-hop scene since the late 1980s. At the age of 8 he took first prize at the national Tastee Talent contest, which would lead to multiple TV and radio appearances, and eventually some recording contracts. He had his first No. 1 single in 1993 with “Matie,” and won the DJ of the Year award that same year. He would go on to win that award for eight consecutive years. In 1994 he was signed by Island Records and released the critically acclaimed album “Blessed,” which featured the dancehall smash “Slam.” His career took another turn in 1996 when he released the album “Maestro,” produced by Patrick Roberts. It peaked at No. 3 on the U.S. Billboard Top Reggae Albums chart. Then in 1997 he had his major international breakout when his singles “Dance Hall Queen” and “Who Am I” skyrocketed up the U.S. and British Charts. “Who Am I” quickly went Gold and peaked at No. 15 on Billboard’s R&B chart in 1998.

And then came the album “Many Moods of Moses,” which was his crowning glory. The autobiographical, Grammy-nominated project peaked at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 Top Reggae Albums chart. It featured two No. 1 hits, “Oysters & Conch” and “Foundation.”

Since that time Beenie Man has continued to make hit after hit, and his contribution to Dancehall music was officially recognized by the Jamaican entertainment industry when he was formally crowned King of Dancehall in 2009 at Reggae Sumfest. Though much of his story remains untold to this day, his success as a major player in the world of Reggae and Hip-hop is unquestioned. And now “Feeling Herself” is poised to join that impressive list of hits.
