Music is Due Up Soon........

Some background on this -(" White Man's Rap Sheet." )

"The truth will set men free "....they say

but it's the practice that takes the longest....

and we've been rehearsing forever."

I live near a township that sits next

to another small city which has

a place called "The Park."

Many years ago the citizens

of that small city,

a Republican stronghold annexed the park

and chose to bus the black students

to a school outside of their town.

They are still busing those students today,

long after civil rights came into being,

and men made some small progress

against racism.

Imagine being a black student

who can't go to his or her

hometown school.

What picture does that paint for them.

A bleak one indeed.

Thanks again~~~MFB III

Especially because Abe said............

"Four score and
seven years ago,"
a whole bunch of fellows
we've all come to know,
our Forefathers brought
to this great continent,
a nation forged by fighting
with the British hell bent.

Concieved in purest liberty,
baptized in bloodshed,
in dedicated propositions
which I hoped that they all meant
"All men are created equal..."
was the message that they sent.
but what happened to us next
makes this dream a wee bit bent.

You see many of
those good ol' boys
had slaves that they each kept,
out picking cotton every day,
while neglected babies wept,
and the Irish and the Chinese
who helped build our vast railroads
were unwelcome by so many
'cept to carry heavy loads,
some folks didn't practice
what they preached,
they were truly hypocrites,
and they butchered
all the Indians,
for thier homelands
that we kept.

I remember as a child...
the water fountains
that had signs,
one for whites,
and one for coloreds,
way back when in "59"
and in the backs
of all the buses
was the place
they had to ride,
if your skin was black
you sat there
or you were left outside.
they had names
for each minority
I 'd never dare to mention,
and the whites
all lived in splendor
amidst endless
racial tension.
there were lynchings
terrible beatings
and some very
unjust trials
many innocent Men
went off to jail
while the jurors
sat and smiled.

Over seven score
and six years since
Abe Lincoln's famous speech
we've got prejudice galore,
we still don't practice
what we preach!!

We've got a president
whose black,
but many still
have to attack,
his birthplace
and his efforts ....
never giving him some slack....

And now they're
talking 'bout
eeee-lectrifying immigrants....
Herman Cain who
is a "black" man
wants to build
that mighty fence,
Ol' Rick Perry's in agreement
but he's truly
such a louse,
he's had folks without
a green card,
working daily
on his house....
and those poor who
have no health care,
"those bums need...
to go get work!!"
but unemployment's
running rampant,
most jobs offer
them no perks.
The constitutions
a dilution
from those men
who once held slaves,
"Each human heart
holds the solutions
for the somewhat
free and brave."

I wonder if.....
four score and seven
years ahead from now,
we will have put to death
our prejudice with
perfect peace somehow,
or will we hand it
down to children
who will hand
it down again.
by our actions
and our words
that never lets
the hatred end.

God's skin is
multi-colored...
we were all
created equal,
heaven will not
welcome prejudice,
it's meant for
loving people.

I only write the truth,
and if it bothers you
that's good...
turn your bothers
into brothers,
let's create a "Brotherhood."

(Rebuttals are more than welcome.....)

Valley Of That - "Rains"

I'm 24 year old musician from the DMV. I grew up singing in competitive choirs but switched to rap and pop, I've been writing and singing for 6 years, I'm starting a new project based on indie/folk blended with hip hop called Valley of That. "Rain" is about a girl I broke up with because she was hard to get along with, but I didn't really want to. Valley Of That ·…See More
