I was born during a time when music groups dominated Motown and singers like Diana Ross, David Ruffin, Aretha Franklin and Smokey Robinson to name a few set the trend not only in R&B music but also style as far as clothing, mannerisms and general behavior as a whole. These were role models in my community in the mid and late 60's into the 70's and beyond.

Now I've heard some speak on the fact that the industry doesn't have much use for older artist and are concentrating on the new fresh generation of the mainly the hip hop genre even though nowadays you can hear hip hop in what is considered to be Country Music.

I think it's overlooked that the truly great artist and performers modeled themselves based on what their musical predecessors had provided and foundations already in place.

We live in a world that capitalizes on the accomplishments of others which of itself is not a bad thing after all we do live in a presumably Capitalist society. The thing I see that's not so good about this society we live in is the age old modus operandi employed that seeks to manipulate and sometimes erase portions of History and facts that do not suit power players upcoming agendas and substitute them with more agreeable propaganda suited to their particular needs at the cost and loss of the underprivileged majority.

These are the ones who manipulate trend setting and say "this is O.K. and that is not" not only in the entertainment industry, but in almost every facet of business and commerce of any 1st or even 2nd world governing system. How you may ask? By way of media guided by the financial prowess of over-thriving corporations.

You see they know that the older mature segment of population are hard to sell on ideas and concepts that lead to future devastation with the offer of temporary capital gains to abandon their convictions, so they go after the children early on to groom them into acceptance of following a path that disassembles security networks in families stone by stone with the blessing of the "public school system" and of course "media hype". At the rate things are going "Sponge Bob" will be in office and "Uncle Grandpa" will be running schools of theology. What? You mean it's already happened? Imagine that..!

They somehow managed to pull our kids away from morals and ethics to give them gold chains, saggy pants and guns not just to rap about, but to actually use on one another via "media". Look people, this thing has always had the opportunity to go one way or the other. The question a mature sober mind should be asking is, "do you like the results so far"? We have lots of talented entrepreneurial people with varying skill sets, and all it takes to make things better is one step at a time in the right direction.

This is what industry has to look forward to if they employ people who can think for themselves especially when they know their history and respect it. That in part is why they want to keep the older mature generation out of the mix. For starters they have no true respect for your history and not very much for the truth. You see that would just crush their use of the illusions they manufacture to stay in control.

Allot of what they tell you is good is really not so good, and allot of what is good they will try to make you believe is not. That's just the way they till the soil so they can plant the seeds of thought that create this illusive ever changing reality called society, I laughingly refer to as "The Corral". While it's true we may be in the best corral on planet Earth, we are in it nevertheless..!

Cheers from an old player,
