I was minding my own business when I get a notification in my SoundCloud account that I've qualified for 500 free on the air plays of one of my songs thru Bryder Productions. It said all I have to do is follow the link. Well, the 1st thing that happened when I started following the links was I was forced to listen to a song they posted. There was a little box for expressing your opinion of the tune. However, below it are the words "a positive review is much appreciated". I listened. I'm sorry to report that it was dreadful. It was an attempt at a Rap/Hip Hop piece. The tempo was like a funeral dirge. The music track had so much reverb on it that it was irritating. The same 4 measures over and over again for the entire song. No development and uninteresting to begin with. Then there was the rapper, and singer. Both sounded unprofessional. I didn't dig the tune at all. So when the song was finally over I start writing my honest critique about it and it says "link with SoundCloud" that's the only available step to take after writing your opinion. It goes on to say that by linking with SC you agree to re-post, Like, and Follow the song and all of their clients. I look back at the page with my critique on it and it's gone and the words "Invalid Entry" replaced it. I tried to tell them to contact me when I could have 500 free plays without having to submit to their demands. I said it was extortion and I believe it is. I'm not going to do it. I have standards, and ethics, and I'm not going to hype an unworthy piece of "music" while chasing the carrot on a stick. What next? It was described as their "biggest new promotion" for this failed effort. If it "takes off" it's a testament to just how low people will stoop to cram another worthless product down consumers throats. I could go on but I probably already made an enemy.
