- About Me
- Bio: My musical background started back in the late 60's early 70's. My cousin Herbie Hancock was a major influence on me. I met him when I was about 5 and sat down beside him at a piano. He asked me to play a note on the piano and I knew it right then. I began collecting all kinds of instruments and teaching myself to play them. One year my mother got an organ for Christmas. She said if you learn to play it, it's yours. I would play it every Saturday when Soul Train came on. Whatever music they played, I played, whatever group was on the show, I played. That was the music everyone wanted to hear. I learned it, and eventually put a band together from students in my junior high school band class. We became so good, we began doing talent shows and after school dances. As I got older, I began writing and recording music. When I joined the Army in the late 70's, I would hang out at the Rec-Center and hook up with other musicians just to kick it a little. Well word got back to the platoon Sergeant's that I was very good. One of my Sergeant's suggested we have a competition between the platoons to see which one was the best. My group won of course and was asked to open up for a new artist that had just gotten signed to a major label and would be performing for the troops on Fort Gordon in Augusta, GA. It was none other than Evelyn Champagne King. She thought we were great! After we completed boot camp, we were informed that we would be shipping to Europe where we would be continuing our music career while performing live for the troops on bases and opening act for many new and already famous artist. It was a dream come true and it lasted for 5 years. After leaving the Army and returning home to DC. I kept writing music and recording music in case the opportunity came around again for me to offer my talent to the world. I started to receive many label deals as a songwriter to the stars. I was getting 3 to 4 contracts a month for my prerecorded songs and music and my future was looking great. After inking most of the deals it wasn't happening the way I thought it would be. The labels got quiet. No royalties were coming in. My phone calls went unanswered. I was hearing my songs on the radio and couldn't do a thing about it. So I began my own label and here I am.
