- About Me
- Reece Surreal is a psychedelic MC with a style of his own. He got in to hip hop after first seeing the Wu Tang Clan video "Mystery Of Chessboxing", watching ninjas on a a chessboard with martial arts and sound effects had him intrigued, it was like nothing he's ever seen before, after that he was hooked! He would buy every Wu Tang Album, including the sub groups like Killarmy, Sunz Of Man, etc. if it had that W logo he was down with it. While growing up, he would make friends with other aspiring MCs and he started recording songs and albums at early age, starting off with a karaoke tape machine his friend had, and instrumentals, push and pause tapes so we could have more beats. Reece Surreal also comes from a artistic family, his mom was a artist growing up, and his father was a musician, so he was always around music, and art.
Eventually over the years Reece Surreal started to make beats, and and get in to audio engineering, and develop more of a style of his own. After having fall outs with various groups he decided to go solo, so no matter what happened in the future he would always be in charge of his career. Over time he started getting in to different genres of music, especially from the 60's and 70's. He liked the freedom of the music, and was inspired to put some of that in to his music, even though every song he makes may not be psychedelic, or trippy, the main message he wants to get across with his music is a sense of freedom , and wonder.
Most people think of hip hop in a limited view, but after getting in to Wu Tang at a young age, the main lesson he learned from them was to have a style of your own, and to be skilled at your craft. In a day and age where a lot of people sound the same, Reece Surreal wants nothing more than to stand out and bring something new to the culture.
