Joshua has a style all his own for many reasons. One of those reasons is his ability to play by ear, which is why he is self-taught. Although he loves listening to all sorts of music, he refuses to try to learn to play other artist's music. Crazy as it sounds, he believes that the lack of formal training gives his music the ability to be influenced by his musical listening preferences; since he lacks the ability to play his favorite songs, they will never sound quite like his.
Joshua owns an acoustic guitar and a mobile phone. He records his guitar on his phone, through a standard ear bud microphone, for about two hours a month. After work, he sits in his work truck, edits the track, and digitally recreates the guitar piece in a program on his phone. He then lays down bass, synth, drums, and any other instrument the app on his phone came with, to create s sound he likes. Next he writes words for his new song and lays down the vocals using the same ear bud microphone. That's right folks, a guitar and a mobile phone.
Joshua has been learning about music since he was 18, however he only started recording this way because his work schedule lacks time for band practice, and with five kids, no money for gear. Joshua just needs a creative outlet and an audience to enjoy it.
Here's hoping you all love what you hear.
