- About Me
- Based in Harlem, New York City, Ervin L. Robinson, Jr.—also known as E-Truf—was born in the Bronx on June 18th, 1987.
Early on, he started dancing and playing musical instruments, however, his first taste of music was in elementary school. He was very eager to perform at his school’s talent shows every year.
E-Truf’s tumultuous life influenced his love of music. At the age of five, he lost his mother. His father, a music DJ, was how introduced E-Truf to Music. Life was difficult for E-Truf and his younger sister: they were victims of physical and sexual abuse before having to go into foster care. At this point, E-Truf found the love of music to help him escape reality and always hoped to be able to share his story with the world through his creativity.
Despite being heavily influenced by Hip-Hop and R&B, E-Truf’s musical stylings are diverse. To describe the sound of E-Truf’s music is very complicated because everything comes from a special place in his heart and is delivered in a truthful and cutthroat demeanor. He wants others to experience his emotions by speaking about pain, sorrow, loneliness, and social occurrences happening in the world. Through his conscious music, he wants people to see there is a light at the end of the tunnel, one must work hard to get there.
Much of his influences comes from Artist like Biggie, 2 Pac, Nas, Eminem, Mase, Prodigy, J Cole, Rakim and more who inspired E-Truf’s sound. E-Truf admires music producers such as Timbaland, (Dr.) Dre, Pharrell and Swizz Beatz. Lastly, his father plays a pivotal role because, E-Truf promised himself he would be better than his father in music and make a life for himself and his loved ones; this acts as strong motivation to change his future.
E-Truf has released a few tracks since 2008. In 2018, E-Truf released a 4 track EP titled “Open 24 Hours” including the Remix to Queen Naija’s “Medicine” with a music video to go with it. In the summer of 2018 E-Truf was on the Shows Elementary, She’s Gotta Have It 2 and Ray Donovan.
He is currently working on recording his first official 10-track EP. The first single features his best friend Micheal Williams also known as YaHighNe$$ produced by GangaBeats, available everywhere music can be downloaded and streamed. He is the C.E.O of his Entertainment company where he creates, mixes and masters his own music, and is managing and producing an artist named E V Zimora from Toronto Canada and King Tone from New Orleans LA. He is currently a student at Full Sail University for his Bachelors in Science for Audio Productions. He currently owns his own state of the arts home recording studio and Green Screen production equipment. E-Truf hopes, that 2019 is the year he brakes through.
