Christopher C.Y. Young, who performs as DaRealCY, was born in San Francisco, California, on June 1977. After going through some things and riding on a up and down roller coaster I’ve decided to use music as my therapy and put my angered moments and hard times and frustrations in lyrics and express it through music. I’ve worked with a few independent artist from several states such as New York, Atlanta, Denver and Arizona. Have not yet worked with anyone on a superstar level but working towards it.
DaRealCY being born in a family that has witnessed the struggles and hard times growing up in a low class atmosphere in Oakland Ca. Growing up with three sisters and a single mom times was kind of hard but we’ve managed to wiggle through the struggles. Growing up in the Bay Area is definitely hard and I have managed and was blessed to make it out of oakland and able to escape the violent streets and dodge the mischief growing up as a young man. Great kid in school and always kept a good state of mind.
DaRealCY begun writing and learning to make mix and master music around 2008. Not to mention a few years before then as a youngster I would cypher with friends and just mess around and played with lyrics doing what kids do. I remember my nephew and his cousin doing music on and off the streets and this where it started again for me seeing them doing music on the streets was a scary sight. So that being said I wanted them to have a safe environment to do the music so I invested in a few things started to make beats for them and gave them a safe lace to record. During the time I begun writing lyrics again and just have not stopped since only to better myself as a writer then took it to the mic and DaRealCY came to life.
DaRealCY chose this name because The real is what I am writing about in my lyrics and C.Y is my initials first and last. I have worked on several projects with various independent artist and I have 3 albums I produced myself. I have also done some mix tapes using some of todays beats and independent producers tracks. DaRealCY was on a independent label I.D.D.P , a.k.a I Did Dat Productions . The label had a few artist and I was introduced to them through a friend and I learned to work with other artist and feat. on various types of music. I spent about a year or so on the label helping with production of beats working with a few artist signed to the label.
They Call Me C.Y was my first project produced by I.D.D.P just was getting my feet wet on this project bars were a little sloppy was new to the whole delivery aspect and being in the studio for the first time.
They Call Me C.Y 2 This project was produced by DaRealCY all beats and lyrics mixed mastered and written by DaRealCY. Album is basically about me and my prospectives and as I mentioned for therapy reasons releasing and venting going through change and changing times.
I also have a few other titles including mix tapes and projects produced and performed by other artist and producers. Crowned, The Streets Gotta Eat 2, Black Ops (Be Different, Be Unique), Snapped, Regal, Full Service Gas Co., No Freedom, The Dedicated and the Gifted and a few more titles on I.D.D.P .
