- About Me
- I hold two degrees from Arkansas State Unversity: the Bachelor of Music Education and the Master of Music in Composition. I studied composition with Dr. Jared Spears at ASU, and with Kamran Ince at the University of Memphis. My works have been performed in several states, including Arkansas, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Pennsylvania, Tennessee, Texas, and Virginia. I was a high school band director in Arkansas for thirteen years, and have performed with numerous groups, most notably the Memphis Saxophone Quartet and the Temptations. One might say that music was my first love, but I now hope to use my music to help myself and others find a much higer Love.
Karla, my wife of more than 25 years, and I currently attend Mount Vernon Baptist Church in Black Rock, Arkansas. Our faith is central to our lives, and we hope to serve God by using all the talents He has given us wisely. I have been active in the ministry since 2011, serving at times as a musician, worship leader, speaker, or teacher, as God directed. I am also a bit of a bookworm and would-be author. I toy with a bit of fiction from time to time, but I prefer to concentrate my writing time on practical Biblical living. As such, my Christian writings are focused heavily on applying Biblical principles and theology to our everyday lives.
