The Social Experience.........Helping the Unsigned Artist Get Heard!!!
We take pride on promoting the idea of staying independent as an artist... Most of the artist that I talk say the biggest thing that they are lacking is marketing power... They just don't have the time to commit to doing all of the things that it takes launch a successful marketing campaign... Most distribution companies wont market your music for you... You are left to hang dry on the line with any help... Feel free to pick my brain about how to effectively market your music...

Permalink Reply by The CRY! (Ray) on September 20, 2012 at 10:08am Ok! So we are getting small label deals all over the world. Small pressings (500-5,000 copies). THe labels do make some effort to distribute via record stores and on-line mail order. We also get plenty of copies for sales at gigs (gas money!).
BUT, marketing, cordinating on-line sales points, promoting shos.. etc. is still a problem. We are going into the studio again with a new producer and a deal thst will put us on the road with "The Biters" for international tours.
You are right, we don't have the time to launch a marketing effort..... thoughts?

Permalink Reply by Nicolas McNulty on September 23, 2012 at 3:50am how could i do to get help to have at least 3,000 copies?
And about the sales at gigs, tell me more about this, I´m very interesed!
Before headliner exist, I was making something very the same, bet I didn´t care very much about the # of likes (I only made that @facebook), supporting friends and, they supportin` me...
I guess that the best way to get heard is to register in some webs, more than just fb, twitter, soundcloud, myspace... I´m logged in @ more than 200 webs! Some webs of sponsors, others of sales, others of social, videos and more...
We can do something: "In all webs that u r in, pass me ur link with username and gettin´ more in contact, we can help each other more and more.. After adding us on some webs, we can post some things ;) etc..."
And after we r in touch cool cool, we can exchange webs that we r logged in. I give you 20webs, and you register and add me, then u pass me 20 different webs to me to register... and add u, what do u think?
Permalink Reply by ArtistPush.com on September 24, 2012 at 12:03pm Why does everybody only focus on Social networking sites like facebook... We have our fair share of social sites for artist, but that is not the only thing you can do... Try tagged.com for instance... Big Rome who is also on this site currently has 1012 friends on that site... check out his profile there... now this strictly for marketing purposes but it works great especially for targeting specific regions in the United States..

I am always open to ideas for marketing and distribution. What kind of info/assistance would you offer? Thanks!
Permalink Reply by Nicolas McNulty on September 25, 2012 at 9:12pm well, i guess that ppl focus more on facebook only because the name "like", if u like some artist, is not like the follow, and each person is sayin, I like this, and i support this because i like it. Much of ppl don´t eaven care to what they click like...
About tagged, is a good tool, (is one of my +200networks) this is crazy & cool. But yeah, the thing is to search what do you want, how do u c u in the future, and makin´ what. A lot of rappers say: "Money don´t sleep", you take that, however. Its on ur hands.

Permalink Reply by ArtistPush.com on September 25, 2012 at 11:11pm Hey Yolanda...
I set up this thread for you to pick my brain about different things like social media marketing and distribution... If, have a specific question I can answer it, but I can't give you a step-by-step guide to what we do at ArtistPush.com. What I can say is that you should be on at least 50 social media sites and as many unsigned artist sites as possible... Where should you begin?
You have already answered that question and taken action on that... I would say that PozeProductions.com is the site I suggest most for unsigned artist as far as social music sites... This is a fantastic site...
In, Fact I have personally found 4 great artist on this site 1 have signed and 2 others are in the process of being signed to a distribution and marketing deal... The fourth artist is also great artist but it just didn't happen for her yet. Let me get to the point...
In the music business you need to be everywhere whether it's pinterest.com or tagged.com. Yes, I said tagged.com...
Let me give you an example... Big Rome in an artist that we found here at Poze... He has a an account here on poze and a tagged.com account that we set-up for him last week on September 19, 2012... He currently has 1550 friends on that account in less than 7 days... Check his account here's the link... http://www.tagged.com/bigromemusic Now don't expect to get the response Big Rome did because we have a lot of technology at our disposal...
I can tell you that we are leading the way when it comes to distribution and marketing technology for artist but I can't tell you all of our secrets if you know what I mean...
Thanks for join me on this thread of the Shameless Self Promotion Forum...

Permalink Reply by The CRY! (Ray) on October 8, 2012 at 10:24pm SO, in the end it all come down to an old saying "the more lines you have in the water, the more likely you are to catch a big fish... sometimes fishing is an act of faith. We never know if our bait is right, if their are even fish or how big they may be... BUT if we keep fishing and throwing more lines n the water. We know that if we don't' fish we will not catch anything.
Ok! here goes. I've been trying everything I can think of to get the music of Extreme Dream out to the masses. I'm selling the Cd of cdbaby and all their Distribution sites and make very little cd sales, Downloads etc. I've sent out Blogs at Christmas time, about Xmas presents for that music lover etc. I've also tried every idea I read about. I just don't know what to do. Do you have any info. you can give me to jump start some sales? I'm not a pushy artist. I can't do that. I think you would scare off people, if you keep saying buy my Cd. all the time.
Thanks for listening
