From my own experiences, getting further as a musician involves exploring your mind. You know. That 90% of our brain scientists claim we never use. I find myself on a daily basis asking myself, what can I do to separate myself and stand out, or simply what can I do to progress as a musician. I stumbled across a video where Wu-Tang was mentioning most artists these days grew up without seeing how they became successful. They spoke on the importance of paying to have your music reviewed or having it reviewed period.

To all musicians, I recommend google searching people, blogs, magazines, companies etc that review albums, ep's, mixtapes, singles etc. Some are free, some only require a donation to keep their site running, while most average $25-50 a piece. It's a true investment, and will help you understand where you are in your career.

Wu-Tang also spoke on how important it is to not only have your music reviewed, but how much more it is important to wait a while after your reviews are done to give your music time to buzz from the reviews.

And back to exploring your mind.

Artist to Artist, ask yourself on a daily, "How can I....." and find a way.

Be Consistent and Remain Consistent.

This is the dream. Don't wait until you "Make It" to start releasing albums consecutively.

Give the people your story now, and make 'em catch up if they weren't there from the beginning.

Indeed Very True, Building up your reviews and Awards and Credits make a powerful impact when you are sought after as a polished ready product.  It is a process that leaves a trail of your life and that is what people will look into about you when you start making impacts everywhere.  It's just like building a resume only it's for the music industry.  EPK/ Reviews/ Awards and a build up of where you have performed or even collaborated with, etc  It all is relevant to people building on you as an artist they can sell.  No Matter what Genre of Music you are in.  Thank You For such an awesome post with great input Rawboss. it is much appreciated in the group.  Blessings Everyone.  TC Eckstein Vocalese

Valley Of That - "Rains"

I'm 24 year old musician from the DMV. I grew up singing in competitive choirs but switched to rap and pop, I've been writing and singing for 6 years, I'm starting a new project based on indie/folk blended with hip hop called Valley of That. "Rain" is about a girl I broke up with because she was hard to get along with, but I didn't really want to. Valley Of That ·…See More
