Magical Melody

My purpose in creating this group is for song writers-discussion and sharing.

I say life is a melody. Sometimes its crazy, sometimes its just as just as calm and sweet as a love song. And, every song I write has meaning, and a personal touch from somewhere inside.

I've written songs sense childhood, and for me, they served as a personal diary.  I never kept a diary like most girls did.  Some of my songs were about love.  Some were the most hateful things you ever read. I can't really say I've ever really written one creatively.  The closest I've come to creative writing in a song is taking feelings I've had from another time or situation in my life, taken it out of context, and built upon it. "Cry" is an example of that, as well as "Rock The Night."

I got a lot done today!I finished up all release information on CD baby, finally. Jeesh! Didn't think I would ever get through that.  They have a lot of information they want you to fill in sense they also sell on-site.  Then there were technical problems, so I ended up calling them a few times over the past few days.  I got the licensing for the cover song on the album, did some building for the physical album, and came here to update my profile.  Now, all thats left is to upload a digital download onto my webgsite.  Then, I'll be good to go.  But, sense its 1:41am, I think I'll save that part for tomorrow. Wow, this two days kinda remind me of the two days it took me to make the coming soon video and build my web site from scratch all within one week. Its been crazy, but worth it.Continue

ReverbNation Scam Revealed

Started by Cheryl Boutz. Last reply by TC ECKSTEIN, VOCALESE (LADII) Oct 22, 2013. 1 Reply

Taken from an email I received from a good Friend.Hello, Cheryl Boutz!Hi! As many of you know I support independent bands and scout for major label executives like the ones in my photo section here on The Spotlight Zone. So I am writing to tell you that Reverbnation finally admitted to me that people who buy their ⌠tools■ and use them are the ones that get higher rank on their site. This came after I complained about being knocked off the #1 national position in all genres in the Virgin Islands by someone with much lower stats. Now the only reason that I even care about rank on that site is that I occasionally invite people to this site to be heard and possibly referred to a major label for free. So I want them to get a good impression on RN. But I know that most of you use RN to promote your music and think that your chart position is based on the quality of your music. It▓s NOT! Many of you are proud of your chart position. But why? No one is really judging your music on the RN staff nor can your friends rank your tunes there. So the people above you on the charts are there because they buy these so called ⌠tools■ from the site and it gives them a higher rank. Here is just part of what Reverbnation sent me back when I told them that someone with much lower stats took over my position on their charts."There is no "excuse" for you being knocked out with lower stats because the total number of stats you have has nothing to do with your chart position. If the other artist in question has promoted more efficiently using ReverbNation tools in the last 2 weeks, then they would be ranked above you, no matter the total number. The charts are designed to show the success, again of ONLY using ReverbNation tools, in the last two weeks." - RN employeeSo now you know! And, ReverbNation told me the reason I was remoed from MY Number 1 chart postiion TWICE was due to suspicions of my buying plays or obtaining fraudulant fan growth from third party sites, which they have no proof…Continue

Why small labels?

Small labels are trying to make a name for themselves. They are willing to work more on your level and listen to your ideas. Of course you won’t get the super big bucks but you could be smart and have an attorney look over your contract and cut your cost. Don’t sign a long deal with them, that gives you the option to build your fan base. Move to another label with an actual sales record with experience in performing. Stick with people you know from the beginning, and let them be your guide. Whether its family, husband, wife, manager, etc., try to keep the ground beneath you.

One of our VIP artists is in talks with a record label. We received the information a few days ago and we are very excited knowing we have help, someone trying to reach their goal. This is the best feeling in the world. We value all of our VIP artists and our small team are doing wonders and opening doors for unsigned artists. We appreciate record labels stopping by and checking out our artists. We appreciate the support. Thank you so much to all members.

I noticed a lot of new people over the past few days joining up, so I wanted to stop by and say thank you for becoming a member.  Sorry I've been so anti-social over this past week.  I've been so busy at the beginning of the new month running errands, and working hard preparing the Evolution release.  I've been so tired, I don't know what to do with myself.  On top of all that, we're working on writing some new songs.  Nothing has been produced at this point.  We're in what we call pre-production stage, or preparation. That's what I did today. So, its been a pretty busy week.  But, welcome everybody to the group.  If you have anything you'd like to talk about, or question you want to ask, feel free to.  Good Night.

Thanks Ariel for joining. Yah, me I love my guitar, & I love to share my ideas with my producer, who over time has become more of a friend. We work well together in creating the best sounds and the best songs possible that have a great feel/vibe to them. Always knows exactly what I want, & understands me, even when it seems I'm not making much sense.

Thank you for the invitation Cheryl. I used to sit with a guitar and fiddle around until something started to sound like something (you know what I mean). Now that we have a piano in the house, I'm finding that as an easier way to compose. But don't stop what you're doing, your music is great!

Hey Tone Def of MMMF, I noticed right off you & I share something in common. In school, I too spent a lot of time in choir, & I acte d in school plays. They had one every year. The director always made sure I got the parts that had a lot of singing. I made it all through high school English as an "A" student because of my w rioting talents. My English instructors always hoped I would peruse writing, & found my poetry writing phenomenal. I always took part in anything that meant I could perform, talent shows, anything. I'm still that way. I will perform @ any opportunity that I can, & that is available to me.

Hey thanks TC for your comment. I created this group because I am looking for a more effective way to get to know other artists, & see what I have in common with them or what they have in common with me. Plus also I notice how I often fall short in communicating & socializing with others. Who are like me, or share the same common interest, music.

Thank you for inviting us. This is Tone Def of MMMF. I started writing when I was 8. It started out as poems and potential songs. I always had a love for music and performing. From that age on I would get me and my cousins together and I would write plays and record radio shows on my little tape recorder. From there I was always in choir and acted in plays in school. One could say Born to Perform! I played percussion in school as well. But while in these plays and choir performances I noticed I didn't get any solo singing parts. Therefore the name Tone Def. I never made music past school because of this reason and never looked at Rap as an outlet for my art. Until about this time last year. I watched my best friend T-1-D make hits after hits. One day he came over and put a beat/recording program on my computer. I made a few beats and they were nice. He had some beats from the other studio  he fools with and downloaded it as well. I found it on my computer and pressed record and out came Keep G'in. It wasn't written I just started the beat and opened my mind. T-1-D came over 5 minutes after I wrote it and it was on.... MMMF. It felt good to be accepted as an artist from an artist that's been dropping unrecognized hits for years. As a team we will not be defeated. Losin Ain't an Option. Look for the new song within the next couple weeks. Thank you again for the love.
