The Social Experience.........Helping the Unsigned Artist Get Heard!!!
I have been an Artist for many years and on the road touring full time for the last 11, it seems everywhere you turn everyone has their own idea I how to make it. I started to look back in time an realized that rarely does the over night success happen. In most cases if you listen to the stories and read the bio if well known Artist they sacrificed most all they had and they did not stay at home they traveled playing anywhere they could get into a door and more often than not rented their own venues and the still rent the venues today.
We have decided to take that step also and have done so for the first time, but we have also taken everything to get the promotion and the public evolved also, if we do this right and it's a success then we know what route we will take from here on out.
We have read the books from the so called industry leaders, posted on social networking and just about anything else you can imagine. But what it all comes down to is be physically visible (perform), and become known.
CD's do not make money, concerts do or the pro would not spend 200 to 300 days a year on stage. The key to success if you have a show make sure it is promoted in everyway possible and not just the internet, unless people know you they want find you there so use the internet, radio, tv, posters, and word of mouth anything you can afford.
Without promotion YOU WILL NOT SUCCEDE
Another big thing is not what other Artist may think of your music, we all are bias, what counts is what you think and your confidence and staying power
We all have heard people who can sing like an Angle and not make it in this business and yet hear others and wonder what the record labels were thinking ( it wasn't the labels the Artist promoted himself and got heard and had the numbers / money)

Although many artists appear to become successes over night, we do not see all the hard work they put in way before that. I agree, I see that I gain fans and new contacts by performing live. This is the best way to show people what you can do. I don't expect to make money off recordings so much. I want to get hired to do gigs, backup recordings, etc. And lastly, you are SO right. I see vocalists that can sing the pants off some of today's biggest acts. Alot of this industry is a numbers game - in other words the more people that you get in front of, the bigger your chance of becoming know. Thanks for the discussion and some great pointers. Best wishes to you :)
Yolanda Thanks for joining the discussion, another thing I see also and I was guilty of it to and that is thinking that being an Artist isn't nothing but singing and fun al the time. It is some of the hardest work I have ever done. Especially being on the road for so long. And their are no sick days.

There's practice, networking and alot more than just singing. There is so much that has to occur before a great performance is possible.I know what you mean about sick days- I watch my health so much more to make sure I can sing when scheduled. Its not like my day job- where I can take a day off if needed. I wish you continued success in your music :)

We feel blessed and very grateful for the comments. We look at all comments and we appreciate everyone, please keep them coming. I would like to thank Harmony, Vanessa, KJ, and the rest of the Poze staff for a great year. Each of us were musicians that were given a chance. The internet wasn't a big issue at the time and without our break with someone helping us; we wouldn't have the…
