New life takes center stage with music from J Alive

CINCINNATI, OH – Jack Booher – a man many know as J Alive – has a dream to change lives through the mediums of rap and R&B.

The college student from Cincinnati has never been interested in a day-to-day desk job – it’s just not the life he wants to lead. But he has always felt a connection with music. It’s something that has carried him through a lot of difficult times. And he wants to create that same experience for others – music that can help them escape from their daily struggles. And his debut album, “On All Accounts,” does just that.

Released on Sept. 7, “On All Accounts” is a project that features a lot of J Alive’s diversity, with a wide-ranging variety from the first song through to the very end. This was intentional, as he wanted to create something that would have a song for everyone experiencing every mood. “Some people will go through the album and hate some songs but love others, while different people will love the songs that the others hated,” he said. “And then again the same people who didn’t like those songs the first time around might come back a second time and like them, because the music all depends on your mood. I wanted to create something that would explore every emotion and every mood.”

Take the single “Survive,” for instance. It’s a song that features a more mainstream sound that people might use to go out with friends and party. It’s a feel-good, have-fun song with a motivational beat – so much so that some people might even want to use it as a workout song. It’s fast-paced and puts people in a determined mood.

“Solo Ride,” however, is more of a chill, laid-back, late-night-car-ride type of song. It’s the perfect song to show off J Alive’s unique sound and style – that perfect middle ground sound between over-the-top hype and overly chill… the sweet spot of perfection as a musician, if you will.

“I want to be known for something you can turn to, whether it’s a good thing or a bad thing that you need music for,” he said. “I just want my music to be there for someone when they need it, so that they know they’re not alone. My music can be the soundtrack to their life. It has always been an escape for me, and I know how much it has helped me through depression. So I want to be able to extend my hand to people all over the world who struggle through things, and let them know through my music that they’re not alone. I’ve gone through the same things and I know how it is and I can help.”

In fact, his very name J Alive came from a long journey through a dark period of his life. His former stage name was Jack Tha Rippa. It was something he adopted during the early part of his music career, and he never could understand why people wouldn’t take him seriously. His music at the time was moody and dark, and yet people would often laugh when he would tell them his stage name. He started to experience depression in a real way for the first time in his life. It was a long journey, but as he came out of that dark time his attitude began to change. People could tell a difference, and his music reflected a more positive vibe.

“I knew an R&B singer at the time who was constantly talking to me and mentoring me,” J Alive said. “I told him that I wasn’t feeling the name Jack Tha Rippa anymore, but I couldn’t figure out why I didn’t like it. And he said something about me not being dead anymore. I was more alive. Then he said, ‘You could name yourself J Alive.’ I love that name. It stuck with me and represents everything that I want my music to be about. My music helps people feel more alive.”

J Alive said in addition to his album “On All Accounts,” he’s already working on more music that he hopes to release in early 2019. To listen to J Alive’s music, or to follow him on social media, please visit:
